Silent World 06:49
Can you feel the silence? Like you've never felt before? The wind through the trees The birds on the breeze Can you sense the moment? Like a moment in a dream The world is standing still A brief spark of thrill How blue the sky, how still the air How can we try to start again? Remembering the times that you felt the power to take on the world Those who still believe can feel the strength and innocence Of a silent world of a silent world Of a silent world Will we still remember? Many years from now The fear and the doubt The not going out How blue the sky, how still the air How can we try to start again? Remembering the times that you felt the power to take on the world Those who still believe can feel the strength and innocence Of a silent world of a silent world Of a silent world Of a silent world of a silent world Of a silent world

When we've put the world to right We can wipe our conscience clean There's always another war to fight Don't look for fault in a winning team If the words this time don't rhyme Don't worry about it Another space another time Another moment to dream Another space another time Another moment to dream While you're chilling drinking wine We're going out of our minds We're not blue, we're very green And its perfectly clear That the world's a dangerous place Full of darkness and fear Full of darkness and fear Full of darkness and fear There's others deeper in this crime Let them choke on the bait Your stripes are won in a baptism of fire Wear your scare with pride Your stripes are won in a baptism of fire Wear your scars with pride But the fire will burn us all None of us will survive You make your choice and we'll make ours We're very different beasts Through the mirrors and the doors We will be released We will be released We will be released We will be released

In Our Time 05:38
So much information to decipher So much talk on TV Every day another hero lost Who knows next year how we'll be Looking back to the past How simple things seem then How did we evolve so quickly? Web, mobile data-driven man In so many ways, we have forged our chains with the things that we desire In our time, did we find the secret? In our time, did we read the signs? In our time, have we learned our lessons? In our time, do we fear more than we care? In our time, can we look back and realise that we had no other choice A distant voice, takes me back To the time that I still hear At that moment it was all so new And now nostalgia, memories dear It's amazing to think, the current situation Will one day be just history The people and places in the spotlight Will move back out of view And so the wheel turns and the actors take their bow and a new phase begins In our time, did we find the secret? In our time, did we read the signs? In our time, have we learned our lessons? In our time, do we fear more than we care? In our time, have we more than reasons? In our time, will we steal the truth? In our time, can we heed the warnings? In our time, can we plot a safe course? In our time, don't lose sight of reality In our time, don't bet our future on technology In our time, don't bow to conformity In our time, don't let them take our humanity In our time, don't lose sight of the things that we all should hold so dear

Sometimes heaven sent, hear the sweet lament Here's an opportunity, to tell a certain story Only one way to see, their kind of currency There's method in the madness, sometimes joy (and) sometimes sadness In a clearer light, with a purer sight It stands to reason like the change of season There's the pressure point, there's a hidden clue There's no way to comprehend, this human zoo See the warning signs, make a plan to change The pieces are (all) there - if you can re-arrange them In a clearer light, with a purer sight It stands to reason like the change of season Chorus In the kaleidoscope, shifting colours changing scope In the kaleidoscope, shifting fortunes changing hope In a clearer light, with a purer sight In the kaleidoscope, shifting colours changing hope Oh, I won't mention it, although it's obvious Everyone's (got) a different story, Every-where a special memory Try to understand, we have our own point of view Sometimes we align, sum of the parts a greater value In a purer light, with a clearer sight It stands to reason like the change of season Repeat chorus Kaleidoscope Kaleidoscope

You can climb right up the mountain You can climb right to the top You can look around this beautiful world Don't let the magic stop You can climb to the top of the mountain You can look to the other side We can always try that little bit more Don't let excitement die Ooh oh oh oh Don't let the magic stop x2 You can climb right up the mountain You can climb right to the top You can look around this beautiful world Don't let the magic stop Ooh oh oh oh Don't let the magic stop x4

I am a victim We are the consequence Won’t you help me Find my way back home I am a victim Is this the only way? Can’t you save me? Save me from this pain?

They're burnin' all the bridges Rewriting all the signs They'd forge a new religion If they only had the time They've taken care of everything We only have to follow, it's the strangest kind of freedom And it's a sad And fearful tomorrow Burnin' all the bridges They're making these decisions Denying plans and dreams It's the greatest experiment The world has ever seen Sometime in the future We'll find out the facts, were we protected innocents Or just lab rats And we don't know Burnin' all the bridges They're burnin' all the bridges and they’ve found another strain The scientists work on curing Whilst politicians say who’s to blame Let’s hope the jabs are good enough Let’s hope we can prevail, but if they find the real source Put them in jail Put them in jail They’re burnin' all the bridges

Chorus Don't Change a Don't Change a thing Don’t Change a Don’t Change a Don’t Change a Don’t Change a Don't Change a Don't Change a thing Verse Smile - in the way that you can smile You light up the world And don't - try to shoot the old ones down It's not in your nature I know - there is nothing you can do To save you - yeah From time and nature dues But listen - please! {Repeat Chorus} Verse Take - one step at a time You're doing (just) fine Don't try to run before you walk It's all just talk - (yeah) Keep - the right side of the way I know it's hard today You have - what it takes to be your own light To do things your own way {Repeat Chorus} Not that I don't want you to Change at all But you need to know that Pride comes before a fall Be confident in what you say and do But don't let it rule your life If you follow you own path You will find your own truth Don't Change a Don't Change a thing {Repeat x4}

All arise! Case adjourned And what have we learnt? What remains unburnt? On the right they're shouting "you're right"! They're saying that we have to hold the course While on the left they're telling us we're wrong They're voting for the strength in which we belong The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight Ah – ah, ah All rise! Face the new dawn Are we reborn? Are we reformed? Our plays make waves in intricate ways We’d like to light the flame Fuelling the fire that feeds the desire The moment is there to inspire The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight Ah – ah, ah The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight All rise! Face the new dawn Are we reborn? Are we reformed? The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight Ah – ah, ah

Sometimes things can turn out for the best In the final analysis And often the journey is the hardest test When the way is unclear And the storms of fear Weigh heavy in the air Chorus With the twists and turns, will we finally learn The reason of it all, is not the why and the how Of why we are here, and what is to come The only thing that matters is here – and now Sometimes we can overthink the past In the final analysis Memories fail and time goes by so fast When all’s said and done Our time in the sun Is never meant to last Repeat Chorus We can learn from history, written in a book We can gain their insight and heed the lessons there We can hear the words of council, and the wisdom took But no one knows what the future has in store You can live your life anyway you want We have freewill, that’s our paradise You can live your life anyway you want We have freewill, that’s our paradise
12.
With fear in your heart and mud in your mind The going is hard blind leading blind The fire in your soul hating the wall Consuming the right to be human at all Chorus I built this house of stone, I built this house of stone Everyday I shut away the sounds that I have always known I built this house of stone, I built this house of stone The diesel and the city stains, burn right through to the bone The tear in your side is splitting the frame And chemical needs alter the blame Can't think of a future where losing's the aim Don't suffer in silence try changing the game Chorus x2

When you get to that state of mentality The world is a stage on which to plant your feet You're moving on and moving up away from here There's is no limit to what you can achieve The time is right to wear your heart on your sleeve You've got to get behind just what you believe There is no time to sit there all by yourself Go on, get out there - make it real Chorus This is the Zone Oh, you're never alone We are watching you This is the Zone Oh, you're never alone We are watching you When the beat is reminding you of what is true The world stops spinning and you see right through It's all so simple when you play by the rules But the point of it all is to be just you The sound is revolving around your mind The pieces come together and guess what you find There's nothing stopping you from the things that you feel Go on, get out there, make it real {Repeat chorus} Now is the place, now is the time To stop standing in line Now is the place, now is the time Now is the place, now is the time To stop standing in line Now is the place, now is the time {Repeat chorus x2}
14.
We'll tell you the truth - we know what's best for you We provide the rules - and the money too Don't go off the rails - it's a long way to fall You've a lot to learn - so make the right call Chorus It's bitter medicine - that's what you need You may not like the taste - but that's the price of being free Bitter medicine - the times demand it We know what's right – so please don't fight it Please don't fight it There's no other way - let's face the facts To keep the wolves at bay - you must make a pact The stakes are high – we can make ‘em higher Out of the frying pan – straight into the fire Repeat chorus Bitter medicine – that’s what you need You may not like the taste but that’s the price of being free Bitter medicine – that’s what you need You may not like the taste but that’s the price of being free - free! Bitter medicine…. You may not like the taste but that’s the price of being free Bitter medicine…. You may not like the taste but that’s the price of being free Bitter medicine…. You may not like the taste but that’s the price of being free Bitter medicine!

about

Scheduled for digital released on 1st May 2023, The Zone are pleased to announce their new 14-track album “In Our Time”. It’s the band’s first album to have both studio and live tracks as guitarist/vocalist Dave Browett explains – “We’ve played in our current line-up for a few years now with Mike Hislop on bass/backing vocals, Aleem Saleh on drums and Graham Cowdry on keyboards. We had a few new song ideas and thought why don’t we combine them with several older songs that we play live as all of these songs have evolved. In August last year we played at The Harlington Centre in Fleet, Hampshire and it seemed the perfect place to record our live performance.”

“In Our Time" opens with three studio recorded songs, the first song “Silent World” is about lockdown, starting very gently and gradually building to a guitar solo climax. This is followed by “The Blue and The Green” that has a “Stranglers-esque” feel to it with a keyboard solo and long frantic play-out at the end! The final studio recording is the album’s title song “In Our Time”, a song about nostalgia, loss and a chorus that will be going round and round your head!

The live section opens with “Kaleidoscope, a song that was on their 2017 album “Foundation” but has undoubtedly been enhanced by Graham Cowdry’s keyboards. This is followed by “Climb (don’t let the magic stop)” that is from the band’s album “Prophecies” released in 2021. Track six is “The Exile Parts 2 & 3”, another song from “Foundation” but again this live performance takes it to another level. Track seven is “Burnin’ Bridges” which is a new song (no previous recording) again influenced by recent COVID times. This is followed by “Don’t Change”, the last studio recording of this song was on their 2012 “Which Path” EP and so it’s high time the song was recorded live!
Track nine is “Hopes & Fears” which has become a band favourite since it was first recorded on their 2017 “Foundation” album. Track ten provides a chance to hear their new song “The Blue and The Green” but this time as a live recording. For the track after that the band return to their “Prophecies” album playing a lively version of “Final Analysis”. Track twelve is a stirring performance of “House of Stone” and with track thirteen the band play their catchy anthem “The Zone” and the final track is a rousing rendition of “Bitter Medicine”

The band continue to write new material but this album “In Our Time” combines studio and live tracks and provides an insight into how the band sound should you go to see them live. Their four new songs have undoubtedly been influenced by recent times – references to lockdown and loss abound. They continue to write original and thought-provoking songs and the band hope that you enjoy listening as much as they enjoy playing!
