You can climb right up the mountain You can climb right to the top You can look around this beautiful world Don’t let the magic stop You can climb to the top of the mountain You can look to the other side We can always try that little bit more Don’t let the excitement die Don’t let the magic stop x2 You can climb right up the mountain You can climb right to the top You can look around this beautiful world Don’t let the magic stop Don’t let the magic stop x4

Sometimes things can turn out for the best In the final analysis And often the journey is the hardest test When the way is unclear And the storms of fear Weigh heavy in the air With the twists and turns, will we finally learn The reason of it all, is not the why and the how Of why we are here, and what is to come The only thing that matters is here – and now Sometimes we can overthink the past In the final analysis Memories fail and time goes by so fast When all’s said and done Our time in the sun Is never meant to last With the twists and turns, will we finally learn The reason of it all, is not the why and the how Of why we are here, and what is to come The only thing that matters is here – and now We can learn from history, written in a book We can gain their insight and heed the lessons there We can hear the words of council, and the wisdom took But no one knows what the future has in store You can live your life anyway you want We have freewill, that’s our paradise You can live your life anyway you want We have freewill, that’s our paradise

Make a stand, shout it out, cross the line, there’s no doubt You can make a difference Keep the faith, hang on in, have a care, thick and thin You can make a difference Time after time, your truth will be tested You can protest all you like but please don’t get arrested It only takes a moment, out of a busy day Don’t let your self-restraint get in the way Time after time, your truth will be tested You can protest all you like but please don’t get arrested It only takes a moment (It only takes a moment) It only takes a moment (It only takes a moment) It only takes a moment, out of a busy day Don’t let your self-restraint get in the way

I don’t want to disappoint you but I’ve heard it all before There’s no time like the present, to march straight off to war The time and place keep changing but I’m sure you know the score I don’t want to disappoint you with the way things are today Maybe it’s better than it was, I know it’s hard to say The shifting sands of change, may shake the world someday There’s reason to believe, another to see That this may not be all there is to dream It’s not so much finding the lock and key Just a matter of mentality When we look to the past, do we see it clear? Through our modern eyes, are things as they appear With the same thoughts, we’ll see the same fear When we look to the future, will we know what’s right? Should we believe in fact, or in second-sight? How can we be so sure, when we’re more heat than light? There’s reason to believe, another to see That this may not be all there is to dream It’s not so much finding the lock and key Just a matter of mentality There’s reason to believe, another to see That this may not be all there is to dream It’s not so much finding the lock and key Just a matter of reality

It’s 3am, down by the shoreline He sees the sad reflection in her eyes He knows what she wants to tell him The story of love and lies The wind is blowing through her hair As he sees castles melt into the sand She doesn’t care what she’s doing to him Just the way in which she fares Stand in the sun, see the world slip away And he can only say Stand in the rain, let it hide your tears The sand is frozen in the hourglass A new time has been forged But there may be a chance that they can make up And be again the hearts that soar Stand in the sun, see the world slip away And he can only say Stand in the rain, let it hide your tears The years they spent together, meant so much to them They thought that their love, would last forever She’s gone away this time, there’s no turning back She took his heart and that’s a fact. Stand in the sun, see the world slip away And he can only say Stand in the rain, let it hide your tears

Outside 05:50
It only takes a moment to lose a lifetime It only takes a second to see the light But, how did we know, what mistakes did we make? And now we are sentenced to the night I remember when the sun still shone down on us And the waves crashed around our shores But now we are safe in our prison cell Safe from the demons beyond the door Slowly, walking outside, (outside) Slowly, walking outside Slowly, walking outside, (outside) Slowly, walking outside Slowly, walking outside, (outside) Slowly, walking outside It only takes a moment to lose a lifetime It only takes a second to see the light But, how did we know, what mistakes did we make? And now we are sentenced to the night

All arise! Case adjourned And what have we learnt? What remains unburnt? On the right they're shouting "you're right"! They're saying that we have to hold the course While on the left they're telling us we're wrong They're voting for the strength in which we belong The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight All rise! Face the new dawn Are we reborn? Are we reformed? Our plays make waves in intricate ways We’d like to light the flame Fuelling the fire that feeds the desire The moment is there to inspire The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight All rise! Face the new dawn Are we reborn? Are we reformed? The hopes and fears throughout the years Are here with us tonight Can we persuade for you to pay your dues For the price of sharing our plight

The Warning 06:58
When the sun rises in the West and sets in the East When day is night and night is day, when rockets fly across the sky When humanity has lost its care, and the currency is pure greed When the birds cry out “now now!”, we’ll know that we’ve lost our way Let’s not return to the edge Let’s heed The Warning We can survive it all If we join together When the world loses the fight and the seas conquer the land When the dark obscures the light, and winter is ever-long When we can’t tell wrong from right and fear rules over us all The words will be too late, to save us from our fall (Middle section with quotes from Nostradamus) At 45 degrees At 45 degrees At 45 degrees At 45 degrees At 45 degrees, at 45 degrees, the sky will burn (at 45 degrees) At 45 degrees, at 45 degrees, the sky will burn (at 45 degrees) At 45 degrees, at 45 degrees, the sky will burn (at 45 degrees) At 45 degrees, at 45 degrees, the sky will burn (at 45 degrees) Let’s not return to the edge Let’s heed The Warning We can survive it all If we join together

about

Scheduled for digital released on 23rd April 2021, The Zone are pleased to announce their new 11-track album “Prophecies”. It’s the first release to feature keyboard player Graham Cowdry who joins original guitarist/vocalist Dave Browett, bassist/backing vocalist Mike Hislop and drummer Aleem Saleh to add additional texture on an album that has evolved from their 2017 offering “Foundation” whilst retaining many similar characteristics.

“Prophecies" opens with “Climb (Don’t let the magic stop)” which has a Pink Floyd like easy listening feel at the start that gradually evolves into a grander cycle grounded in guitar, bass and drums and iced on top with swirling keyboards. Track two “Final Analysis” is a continuation of this classic/prog feel that ebbs and flows with a driving rhythm giving way to a piano middle section that builds back into the climatic ending. Track three is a much shorter instrumental, “Karma (i)” is a hypnotic snippet that fades away and leads onto track four “Make A Difference” that starts as a blues protest that morphs midway into a kind of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” ending without the vocals. Karma (ii) is back for track five, even shorter than the first part followed by track six “I Don’t Want To Disappoint You” that bounces its way through verses and choruses into an organ solo in the middle section. Track seven is “Standing in the Rain” with an 80’s jangly sounding verse and chorus and building up to a soaring guitar solo.

The next track is “Outside” that stomps its way through a sci-fi tale of the future where inhabitants of the Earth live in sealed bunkers but dream of returning outside. The “conversation” on the play-out is actually done by AI voices (spik.ai). After the final snippet of Karma (iii) for track ten the band revisit “Hopes & Fears 2021” with key changes and another helping of classic/prog rock, the difference this time being the lively keyboards from Graham Cowdry.

The last track is “The Warning” a vibrant song about climate change, the end of the world and quotes from Nostradamus. This song was mixed and mastered by the talented Jeffro Lackscheide from the USA (www.jeffromixesyou.com).

This is the same but different from the previous 2017 album “Foundation”. There’s plenty of connections and a song remix but it’s also clear that the band have evolved to take on even more Prog influences merged seamlessly with their catchy and original Alt-Rock style. As with previous offerings, The Zone's originality shines through. The tracks on “Prophecies” can be listened to individually or more enjoyably as a body of work (especially with “Karma” popping up three times). The songs all have something to say and the band hope that you enjoy listening as much as they enjoy playing!
